The Source

We briefly touched upon Colossians 1:17 a bit in our last meeting at Tupos. “And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together”. What does that mean to you?

Christ is the source of all things. Everything comes from Him. He is before everything. All things are as they are because He holds it all together. Would it not be for His divine touch and control, everything would be in complete chaos, and there would be death. He is life. He is love. He is peace. He is joy. He prevents His creation from crashing. From blowing up and disintegrating.

Have you found yourself at a point where you just want to give up? Have you been to a point where nothing works? You’re stressed? Frustrated? Upset? Angry? You just can’t handle it anymore. We have all been there. I have, you have, the person sitting across from you has been there. There is only one reason why it happens, and one solution to it.

John 15:5-8 we hear Christ talking about being the vine. It is a illustrated picture of Colossians 1:17. From the vine comes branches, off shoots of the main trunk, which feed from the main source and produces fruit. You see, as followers of Christ, when we are focus on Him, properly attached to the main Vine, we have a source of nutrients. He holds us together. He is before us, pushing to us what we need, exactly when we need it. When we cut ourselves off from the main Vine, we cut off our source, our power supply. That is when we fall into being upset, stressed, frustrated and feel like nothing works. We fall into the world and allow everything around us to trample us. We are too far from our life source.

How do we reconnect?

Simple. We have to place everything aside. No matter what it is. Relationships, career, goals, aspirations, wants, and so forth, and place our priority in Christ. Matthew 6:33-34 tells us that once we place our priority in Christ, place Him first, focus our eyes on Him and what he wants us to do, everything else falls into place. Everything we are worried about, everything we are concerned about, everything, will find its place.

The question becomes, are you willing to surrender it all? Are you willing to place it all aside, refocus, reconnect to the source and allow Him to direct and feed you, instead of the world around you?

It is YOUR decision. Will you make it today? How much longer will you wait?
